Alessandro Confalonieri

Course and Project Leader of Product Design Workshop.

After graduating in Industrial Design and being awarded a Master Degree in ID at the Royal College of Art in London in ’97, he then worked for two years in the Ross Lovegrove studio 1997-99, London, on projects for Guzzini, Driade, Luceplan and concepts for Tag Heurer, Herman Miller, Airbus and JAL.
He collaborated for a number of years with a transportation design studio, Preistman Goode, where he produced concepts for the first class area of the new Airbus A380 and concepts for Virgin Rail. In Milan, he worked with Aldo Cibic where he designed five new lines of taps for Rubinetteria Webert, project nominated by ADI for the “compasso d’oro” 2003. In 2003 Alessandro opened the Quinine Design Partnership in London, a design studio which helped companies to explore, identify and create strategies and solutions for their products.

Between 2005 and 2006 Alessandro directed the Master course in Product Design at Istituto Europeo di Design in Madrid where he developed research projects on emerging markets for companies such as Vichy, B&O, Skoda and Steelcase.
In 2007 he opened with Luca Buttafava a creative consultancy in Milan, called Intersezioni. Current clients of Intersezioni are Apam, Atm, Nestlé, Ferrero, Autogrill, Papaiz.

Alessandro taught at Domus Academy, Turin Politecnico and he currently teaches Product Design in NABA three-year BA program in Design. He is also director of the two-year MA program in Product Design.
