NABA Summer Programs 2010 - 7th Edition
NABA is proud to announce that its Summer Programs have now reached their 7th edition.
NABA faculty have worked hard improving past programs and developing new ones to make the Summer Educational offer as interesting and varied as possible.
Milan will provide a stimulating and enticing environment:
Milan is the city of architects, designers, fashion stylists, entrepreneurs, graphic designers, creative minds and publishers.
Students will find themselves in a thriving metropolis with an international dimension that hosts the main entrepreneurial and manufacturing activities in Italy: from advertising to the publishing industry, from small artisan’s shops to hi-tech companies.
Milan is unanimously recognised as the world capital of design and creativity. It hosts every year the International Furniture Fair (Salone Internazionale del Mobile), that – besides being the most important event in this sector at an international level, it is also the occasion for a unique global business, communication and image meeting.
Moreover, the world pair “Fashion-Milan” is now greatly consolidated and has a strong economic and cultural significance. This year, Milan ranks first in the list of the world fashion capitals drawn up by Global Language Monitor, a research group that measures the number of times a city is mentioned in fashion articles published in magazines, web-sites and specialised blogs.
PARTNERSHIPS
Now in its fifth successful year, NABA's unique collaboration with Central Saint Martins in London will enable students to study in two of Europe’s most inspiring cities taking complementary courses in the fields of Fashion Design and Styling, Interior Design and Product Design. In addition to this, in the light of the successful outcome of the 2009 edition, we are very happy to announce that the fruitful collaboration with Parsons Paris and Forma – International Centre for Photography will continue for the 2010 Summer Session.
QUALITY DESIGN EDUCATION IN MILAN
NABA is an Academy of Arts and Design which was established in 1980 by a group of artists, among whom Guido Ballo, Gianni Colombo, Lucio Del Pezzo, Emilio Isgrò, Tito Varisco, Luigi Veronesi, who aimed at challenging the rigid academic tradition by introducing new visions and languages closer to contemporary artistic practice and the creative professions.NABA education integrates the more traditional disciplines of visual representation with the new digital technologies and the critical-project culture of Italian Design.
The foundation of NABA educational philosophy lies in applying art to a project, in synthesizing creative and practical abilities and in reaching a perfect balance between critical methodological and technical-manual knowledge.
NABA training programs are based on a cross-disciplinary method aimed at developing artistic-professional skills and profiles in the fields of art, design, fashion, media and graphic design.
This approach derives from continuous experimentation, a strong vocation for research, a close relationship with the artistic and productive environment and a focus on the ethical dimension of education.
2010 SUMMER SESSION
The Summer Courses propose a wide and updated synthesis of NABA know-how, giving a view of the most significant trends of the market, of industrial creation processes, of artistic and social expression, of Design, Fashion, Graphic and Communication together with the opportunity to experiment with a topical project theme, under the guidance of renowned professionals and in cooperation with big companies.Introduction Level Courses are intended for students without an academic background in a specific subject area and offer a unique opportunity to explore a new creative environment. Students will learn from experienced and skilled professionals and will be taught how to research and present a creative idea.
Intermediate Level courses meet the needs of students with previous knowledge in that specific subject area who are keen on building upon this, through an intensive and specialised training experience. Students will be immersed in a design environment simulating a professional studio, gaining profound insight into the technical components of the design process.
“A Focus on” Courses are theme-based courses centred around a specific topic, be it Ethical Fashion, African Cinema, Physical Computing, Retail Management or Brand Consulting. These courses require a strong interest in the topic dealt with, as well as motivation towards the subject.
Selected visits to museums, companies, production sites and design studios during the programs expose students to the creative and cultural environment in Italy.
